Background

Lawrenceville’s Alumni Association welcomed its newest members today, the Class of 2020!

Assistant Head Master/History Master Emilie Kosoff and Head Master Steve Murray opened the festivities before introducing Ian Rice ’95. Rice officially inducted the Class of 2020 into the School’s Alumni Association, which he serves as president. He led students into the Pinning Ceremony (virtually), which usually takes place during Alumni Weekend and represents a Lawrentian’s transition from students to alumni. Fifth Formers are pinned with a black and red rosette by either an alumnus/a or a member of the faculty or staff who was formative in their Lawrenceville experience. The School looks forward to re-creating this experience for the Class of 2020 in the coming year when conditions allow.

School President Tay Gachegua ’20 announced the honorary members of the class – Tim Brown (Mathematics Master), Erik Chaput (History Master), Dana Kooistra (History Master/Director of Teaching, Learning, and External Partnerships), and Kosoff. Chaput, selected by the Fifth Form, gave this year’s Faculty Address.

You can watch the entire ceremony on the Class of 2020 Pinning Ceremony & Faculty Speaker webpage and see photos from around the globe on Lawrenceville’s Instagram page and Flickr gallery. More photos are being added throughout the day, so visit often!
